The Efy Story

How it all began

Our story begins August 20th 2018, in Waukesha Wisconsin. As a freshly graduated high school student, I had been preparing myself to enter the world and either continue my education formally, or commit myself to the journey of crafting a successful business. Following my instinct, I decided to spend my 18th summer preparing to establish Essentially For You, and run full speed ahead. On the 20th of August, Efy was born. At the time, it was just myself providing all the cleaning services, so residential properties became my primary focus. As time and ambition went on, I continued to add more homes, and eventually commercial properties to our community. My days were spent nearly entirely cleaning, and as the night time rolled around, I continued to clean. Switching back and forth between the type of property being cared for, for months on end. This monotony, physical drain, and steady growth, slowly but surely, allowed me to be in the position to hire my first employee.

Hiring was a game changer, for so many reasons. Up until this point I had never worked for anyone in my life, I had never had coworkers, never managed anyone, and now it was my job to be the best employer I could be. I had to have all the answers, while simultaneously feeling like I had none to give. I am beyond thankful for every single employee I have had. It goes without saying that I am eternally grateful for their patience, or even lack of patience, as I learned how to maintain this growing entity. Each individual was a stepping stone for this company as a whole, and for myself as an employer, leader, and teacher. Today, as I write the history of this business, we are a small yet expanding team. I take great pride in those that are a part of this company, and cherish knowing that our clients adore them as well.

After the first two years of gaining experience with managing a team, my personal responsibilities, and the company itself, a flow was finally established. I wish I could say that was all it took! But a baseline was made for us to work off of. Each learning lesson and success allowed us to be a better for our clients. Day by day, we were increasing our ability to provide value to those that worked with us. That momentum is something that we strive for consistently.

At the time of this story being documented, we are 6+ years in business, coming swiftly into our seventh. Our primary goals as a team and company is to grow our community of clients, and to establish a unique culture, specific to ourselves and unlike other cleaning companies. Our journey, if anything, has just barely begun. There are many ways in which we will continue to grow and I look forward to the future of this team.

Essentially For You is a name that doesn’t strike many as a cleaning company. Our namesake derives itself from something unique we offer - the inclusion of essential oils. Our early days are when we only used certified organic essential oils to clean homes. The name Essentially For You, referenced a blend of our priorities, which were: using essential oils and our clients.

As our company evolves itself, we have found the name “Efy” more representative of the many services and products we offer. However, as we move towards a more simple title, Essentially For You will always be our founding name.
